From November 5 to 7, 2024, Barcelona hosted the annual edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress, a global benchmark event dedicated to urban innovation, the transformation of territories and the sustainable development of cities. The congress brought together more than 25,000 participants- representatives of cities, institutions, companies and start-ups - from over 140 countries.
The aim: to reflect together on concrete solutions to major contemporary urban challenges - climate change, energy transition, mobility, social inclusion, resource sobriety - and to highlight innovations that will enable us to imagine and build smarter, more sustainable and more humane cities.
Among this year's exhibitors was Absolin, a French company involved in the manufacture of an eco-friendly decorative coating. Invited as part of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine business delegation, Absolin occupied stand D70-D, alongside other regional innovation players, in an area dedicated to promoting local know-how and sustainable solutions for the city of tomorrow.
Innovation driven by bio-sourced materials and French know-how
Absolin took advantage of this international event to present its flagship product: a decorative wall coating made from linen, lime and marble powder. Developed and manufactured in France, this coating stands out for its 100% natural composition, technical performance (resistance, durability, absorption of volatile organic compounds) and reduced environmental impact.
Designed for professionals in the building, architecture and interior design sectors, Absolin coatings meet a dual requirement: to offer a product with high aesthetic value that can be customized, while helping to improve interior comfort (thermal, acoustic) and air quality in living spaces.
Easy to apply, UV-resistant, water-washable and durable over time, it is fully in line with the logic of healthy, local and responsible materials sought by many players in the sector.
Enhanced visibility in an international context
Absolin's participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress gave the brand greater visibility with an international audience of public decision-makers, urban planners, architects, developers and urban project owners.
The event was also an opportunity to exchange ideas with other innovative companies, make contacts with potential partners, and draw inspiration from initiatives being taken in other countries in terms of the ecological transition of the building industry.
Being part of the Neo-Aquitaine delegation was also a powerful way of highlighting the industrial and ecological dynamism of the region, which actively supports its companies committed to environmental transition and green innovation.
A clear ambition: to make an active contribution to the sustainable city
Through its presence in Barcelona, Absolin reaffirmed its ambition to offer professionals a concrete alternative to conventional coverings, combining performance, aesthetics and respect for the environment.
In a context where sustainable construction is becoming a priority on a European and global scale, solutions like those offered by Absolin have a key role to play. By relying on bio-sourced materials, controlled processes and local manufacturing, the company is part of a responsible, forward-looking vision.
The Smart City Expo World Congress was a great opportunity for Absolin to take this vision to the highest level, and to contribute to collective thinking on building the cities of tomorrow.
